Have you ever dreamed of becoming a Canadian load broker? Everyone dreams of something though this isn't normally a high demand dream that most third graders share. That doesn't change the fact that this is an outstanding position to achieve and has the potential to be quite lucrative. This is what draws most people in-the possibility of a lucrative business venture. As far as careers go there are plenty of careers that do not pay nearly as well and are a lot more labor intensive.
The roads between the US and Canada are well traveled bringing goods from one country to the other. As a result there is a growing demand for those that are qualified to broker transactions of this nature while meeting the requirements of all governments involved without issues or conflicts along the way. It sounds so simple on paper but is actually a career that is both challenging and rewarding.
Do You Have What it Takes?
It doesn't require years of college attendance and multiple degrees to become a Canadian load broker. What it does require though is dedication to the job, the ability to learn and retain the information needed to get the job done, and the ability to use the tools you are provided in order to keep track of your business dealings. Most importantly, it requires the ability to ferret out contacts on both sides of the business. Those contacts are going to be the lifeblood of your business so you also need the people skills necessary to keep them happy and coming back for more.
Looking for freight agent training and other resources?
If you do not consider yourself to be a "people person" it might be a good idea to seek another career path. You need to be able to relate to people, soothe ruffled feathers, calm jangling nerves, and deliver as promised every time. It's a delicate juggling act that is amazing to watch and even more amazing to be a part of. The people skills required to do this job are skills that aren't easily taught in class. It takes a certain type of person to be able to be in the middle and maintain good will on both sides of the equation at all times. If this is something that you feel you have a talent for doing then you might be completely in your element as a freight broker. If not, then you may find you are treading water with all your might while sinking fast.
If you are interested in becoming a freight broker there are many classes you can take of the online and/or physical variety. These classes are generally fairly intense and require a great deal of self-directed study. If you have the discipline to complete these courses you are often in a good position to learn more or to put the knowledge you've gained to use. Classes that hone the skills of a freight broker are highly recommended for anyone considering becoming a Canadian load broker - you should find them to be both informative and rewarding.
